27th Draw = Boys suck [Open Action]

[Well so far today, Selphie's been thrust into the middle of a rather tense and uncomfortable argument between two of the members of House 59 and to make things even better, you could cut the residing tension left behind like a hot knife through butter. It's enough to drive the girl out of the house and into the rainfall. At least if she's outside, she's free for a little bit. So instead of moping about what's happened indoors, Selphie's taking to wandering through the town, without a raincoat on.

And it doesn't help that a certain somebody who shall remain nameless probably needs a good butt kicking but she'll just walk that off and stomp through every single puddle she can find. She'll wind up somewhere eventually, she's just not sure where. Perhaps Good Spirits? Maybe a friendly face of someone who's not acting weird will be there.

She makes her way towards the local watering hole even though she's not in a drinking mood. Here's hoping they have hot chocolate because Selphie's a little bit on the soaked side. :(]

[He's more than happy to explain.]

Well, in my world, some of us are born with the ability to bend one element. Mine is water. First we learn to control the water... [He undoes the lid on his canteen, pulling out the water in the shape of one long strand] And then we learn how to make it follow the motions of our body.

[He takes a few steps back and the water follows, his hands go through some moves that are clearly a form of martial arts, even if not quite the same as what Zell uses. He then suddenly moves forward and sends the water forward as if it was a whip, using it to knock over a chair on the other side of the room. He then draws the water back and effortlessly returns it to the canteen.] Me? I'm one of the most powerful waterbenders in my world.

[She's following his hand movements and listening at the same time and when he's knocking the chair over then pulling the water back into his canteen she's clapping softly. If impressed were a colour, that colour would be Selphie at this very moment.]

It's the first time I've ever seen something like that. Can you bend other things too?

Most waterbenders can't. But I'm the Avatar. I've learned to bend the Earth and since I've been in Luceti... [He turns his hand over, creating a small pillar of fire in it.] I've even picked up some firebending too.

The Avatar? What's the Avatar do then? [She reaches out her hands to the flames and giggles.] So you bend water, earth and fire. How come you never said anything before?

[He closes his hand and snuffs the fire before she can touch it. He does not trust you with fire, Selphie. Not this Sokka or any other.]

Well, as the Avatar, it's my job to master all four bending styles and then maintain balance in the world between the four nations, as well as be the mediator between our world and the spirit world. It's a pretty important job, overall. Only one Avatar in the world.

[Selphie pouts as the fire is snuffed out. Oh well.]

And you're it. Sounds like you've got your hands full but it sounds like everyone's in good hands at least.

[He nods.] Well I do try my best.

[But enough about that.] What are you doing in the rain like this anyway? [Until he started talking to her, she wasn't her usual upbeat self...]

[It's an outright lie, but Selphie doesn't really want to talk about how everybody in the house is acting funny at the moment.] I felt like taking a walk.

[markofthewise]

In the rain, huh? [He gives a grin.] Well, this place is pretty boring. Mind if I join you?

In the rain. And I think after the past couple of weeks that boring is a nice change. [She grins back.] Sure!

[With that, he steps out into the rain and waits for her to follow him.]

[And Selphie's following him right out the door.]

[And yet, amazingly, neither of them are getting wet. Maybe its because of that weird way he's standing with his hands out.] Heh... beats an umbrella, right?

[If you look closely, you'll be able to see the awe in her face.]

That's awesome!

[But then he lets it go and they get rained on, so much for that.] Want to take a short trip up river?

Wha -- [Selphie gets a facefull of big raindrops before she's casting a pouting glance at Sokka before the prospects of going upriver are brought up.]

Let's go.

[Once they're at the river, Sokka will bend some water from the water... into a frozen board suitable for surfing.]

You'll be wanting to hold on.

[Well that's definitely exciting! But is it a wise idea to put a klutz on a surf board?]

[He slides onto the ice board and in the water. Thanks to his waterbending, he's able to keep it level as if he was standing on land itself.]

Climb on, but be careful. It's slippery. [JUST LIKE HIM.]

[Placing a hand on Sokka's shoulder, Selphie climbs onto the board but not before she practically goes tumbling into the water.]

[markofthewise]

[Letting her fall in is neither suave or impressive, so he'll catch her arm before she falls in completely. Among his many changes, having a strong grip is one of the perks of this new Sokka.]

Careful Selphie. We haven't even started yet.

[Selphie breathes a sigh of relief before grinning nervously at Sokka.]

I'm trying, I'm trying!

[Once she's back up and secure, he'll start making the motions, bending the water. They move to the middle of the river before his bending starts pulling the water faster, causing the water rise and speed up. If she doesn't hold on tight now, she's bound to fall off.]

[Oh Selphie's not making the same mistake twice. It's probably exactly what Sokka wants (not that she's aware of this) but she wraps her arms around his chest and watches carefully as they begin moving forward in the water.]

[Exactly what he wanted. This trick always work. Once she's nice and secure and he can feel her up against his back, he glances behind him.]
