[Well so far today, Selphie's been thrust into the middle of a rather tense and uncomfortable argument between two of the members of House 59 and to make things even better, you could cut the residing tension left behind like a hot knife through butter. It's enough to drive the girl out of the house and into the rainfall. At least if she's outside, she's free for a little bit. So instead of moping about what's happened indoors, Selphie's taking to wandering through the town, without a raincoat on.

And it doesn't help that a certain somebody who shall remain nameless probably needs a good butt kicking but she'll just walk that off and stomp through every single puddle she can find. She'll wind up somewhere eventually, she's just not sure where. Perhaps Good Spirits? Maybe a friendly face of someone who's not acting weird will be there.

She makes her way towards the local watering hole even though she's not in a drinking mood. Here's hoping they have hot chocolate because Selphie's a little bit on the soaked side. :(]

[Her wanderings do take her near the forest eventually as she spots Squall out in the distance. She runs over to him with a sunny smile on her face (despite the rain) and she waves to him.]

Heeeeeeeeeeeey!

[Sadly, the greeting she gets is less than enthusiastic, as Squall peers at her for a moment, before half reaching for his gunblade. She looks like one of his friends, but his long since learned to not always trust his eyes.]

[Whoa, whoa, whoa! Selphie skids to a halt, her hands resting on her nunchaku.]

It's me. Selphie.

[It sounds almost more like he's trying to figure a particularly hard problem out than accusing her of something.]

Back home. We fought in the war against Ultimecia and the Sorceresses. We saved the world from Time Compression and you fell in love with Rinoa and we all became heroes!

What about Zell, Irvine and Quistis? Do you know those names?

[It's a violent reaction, but it's the violence of absolute truth. He believes, with all of his heart, that things didn't go that way.]

[Now she knows that he's been affected by whatever's been happening too. She let's his violent outburst roll off her shoulders.]

Squall, you have to listen to me. I think that this is some kinda experiment and I know that you don't believe me but we really did win the war. We saved the world.

[He shakes his head, and the anger fades into weariness. Bone-deep weariness, the weariness of someone who has nothing left to fight for but fights anyway because it's all he knows.]

We didn't win. We lost.

[If this is how Squall would've turned out if they'd in fact lost the war then Selphie wants no part of that future. Selphie just shakes her head sadly. She knows the truth about what really happened. She opts for a change in subject.]

Were you lost in the forest for long?

Not very.
