Tenth Draw - This sucks ass! [Voice/Action]

[In case anyone's missed her, Selphie's been busy searching the forest for a certain Ceodore Harvey. She knows that he's been taken by the Malnosso but it hasn't stopped her from looking through a large area with a fine-toothed comb. She's getting frustrated at this point because she hasn't had any luck finding him and can probably be heard kicking random stones and snapping sticks under her heavy footsteps.

Before too much longer, Selphie decides to take a break a sits down under the shade of a large maple tree. She sighs before muttering anything into the journal.]

Sorry... I'm not having much luck.

Guess I better start headin' back for town now. Stupid Malnosso.

Really? I met him a while ago, though not when I first arrived.

I haven't been here very long you see and I think I worried him too...

[Selphie laughs sheepishly.]

[he smiles, a little sheepish as well.] Honestly I haven't been here too long either. It’s a strange place to try to get used to. [microwaves are weird.]

I've only been around since April. How 'bout you? It is a little strange and other than the odd disaster, things really aren't so bad.

Um... I got a little hungover the one day and well... he kept asking if I was okay or if I needed a healer.

[Now she's blushing and staring at her feet again.]

I've been around since early last month as well. And you're right; besides the past few weeks, it hasn't been so bad.

Hungover..? I see. Well, sometimes intoxication can seem worse then it is, depending on circumstances. [Not that he gets drunk or anything.]

Sounds like we arrived at around the same time then.

Yeah... it wasn't very nice but I learned my lesson. [She hasn't touched the stuff since.]

[He sits down, removing his tri-staff so he doesn't damage it and leaning back on his arms.]

It's a good idea to take that kind of thing slowly, I think.

Anywho...

[Selphie sits down nearby before looking at the staff curiously. It's kinda shaped like her nunchaku as she pulls her own out and sets it in her lap.]

I'm Selphie and I'm all for taking things slow after that. Hmmmm... I didn't know there were other people here who used nunchaku.

I'm Freyjadour, but you can call me Frey if you wish.

[Seeing her weapon he pauses, also curious.] Really? I've never met someone who uses a weapon like mine, either.

Frey it is!

[Selphie looks between the two of their weapons and sees a noticeable difference. Holding up her own, she shows it to Frey.]

Except mine's a bit different from yours. Do you have more control over the three parts or would you find it easier to fight with two parts?

Well..... [He'll pull his nunchaku towards him, and with a quick twist it's now a full staff.] I use it in both one and three pieces. It's kind of a family tradition to learn how to use it. ~~[To give the boy's something to do.]~~

[Selphie nods appreciatively as the weapon shifts forms. She produces her own weapon and gives it a good whack against the ground. The chains rattle in protest at the lack of motion but it feels good just to whack something.]

Oh, that's really cool! We just have traditional nunchaku back where I come from. How hard is it to learn?

[She wants to try now.]

Ummm... Honestly, I couldn't say. I've been learning how to use it since I was quite young. I can't remember if it was more difficult then. But it does take quite a bit of time to figure out how to use it's capabilities in battle.

[She nods as he explains.]

It took a lot of training before I could use my nunchaku properly too.

Yeah. I think it's probably a difficult weapon? Though I've never tried using anything else.

[Selphie looks up at the patches of blue that she can see through the shade of the tree canopy.]

Swords are a bit too heavy and I couldn't quite get a whip to whip right soooo... nunchaku seemed like the best bet for me. It was either that, or hand-to-hand.

[He'll decide to look up, too.] Really?

For me, it was more tradition. Boys in my family learn how to use this type of weapon, from what I was told.

So why did you learn to fight?

Why did I learn to fight? Well... I learned to fight so I could take care of myself. I wanted to be independent and all that stuff. I wanted to do something more than what everybody else was doing. So that's how I came to be at Garden and became a SeeD.

I can understand that. [He has quite a few people he wants to protect. But that last bit...]

Garden? Seed? [What does fighting have to do with gardening? And why is she calling herself a seed?]

[Selphie giggles at that. She's getting used to those questions by now.]

SeeD are mercenaries and we protect our world from Sorceresses. Garden is what we call the schools where we train.

So mercenaries go to school in your world...? [It's hard to imagine the mercenaries he knows back home in a school.]

And sorceresses? What for? [He's thinking regular mages.]

We do! We have to train a lot of take a test to become a SeeD.

Sorceresses are baaaaad news where I'm from. They tend to abuse their power and try to take over the world and stuff. So we kick their butts!
