003; I'm on the Highway to Hell [Voice]

[It's a miracle that Selphie's still managing consciousness as she stumbles back into House 11. Her aches, ache and her reserves of adrenaline are just about spent as she makes a slow, stomping trudge up the stairs to the second floor of the house. She peels off the layers of destroyed leather and leaves them in scattered heaps on the upper portion of the stairs. She'll stifle a yawn before opening the door to her room. She kicks her boots off into the open closet and finally gets a good look at herself in the mirror.

She looks like shit and couldn't care less. She's a lovely myriad of black, blue and purple as she contemplates a shower. Her hair is a tangled, matted mess from days of hard fighting and overuse of filial magic. She stands there in black leather pants and an undershirt before she peels out of her ruined clothes and slips into a pair of clean pajamas. The bags under her eyes have bags as she digs through the top drawer for the hi-potions she kept handy in case of trouble. She doesn't even wince at the awful taste as some of the discomfort dissipates as the potion works its magic.

It also brings with it a deep lethargy as she walks to her bed and flops into the comfort of the matress beneath her tired body with a soft grunt of pain. She stares at the white ceiling with disinterest before her hand reaches for the journal. She doesn't know what to say about the draft other than the fact that it went to hell in a handbasket fairly quick.

Add in a 12 hour enforced quaranteen where the Malnosso refused to let her sleep for more than two hours at a time and Selphie's ready to crash for the next couple of days. Maybe she should've gone to the clinic for treatment and lectures from Bones but she's just too out of it as she fumbles for the voice button.]

Hey. [The exhaustion is clear in her voice.]

There might be more people coming back from the draft and they're gonna need help so keep an eye out for them, okay? I dunno where they're gonna show up but they're gonna be pretty banged up and half-awake like me.

So... g'night Luceti. It's good to be back...

[Selphie trails off and all that's left to hear is her soft breathing before the posting eventually times out. If one is listening closely, they might hear some mutterings about Zombies, viruses and hi-potions.]

It started on the second day we were there. It started with the Third Party goons and their pets but it started to spread super mega fast. Those Kin'coran guys bailed pretty quick after that too. They totally turned tail and ran for the hills. That's when food started getting scarce and the water wasn't safe to drink.

A lot of people were killed before the evacuation order was announced for the remaining uninfected. It was way worse than the jungle draft where I got sick.

[She stops to take a long drink of milk before she digs into her pancakes.]

So only those who haven't been infected have been sent evacuated?

[That makes him wonder what the organization pretends to do with those that were infected, kill them? Abandon them there and wait for them to die? Somehow the idea of them being treated seems unlikely in his mind, then again death may not be the end of the virus so treating it would be the only option left.]

I'm glad that you didn't get infected.

[His blood runs cold for a bit. He really just wants to growl, furious with the Malnosso and their idiocy.]

What Ikki said.

[He doesn't trust himself to add anything else.]

Yeah, me too. I got really lucky.

[But there are still Lucetians there fighting and searching for a cute. She can't hide the worry from her face right now.]

[Worry is an acceptable emotion at the moment. Much better than his anger or inclination to ask more questions, but he doesn't want to go that route. She has just got back and doesn't need reminders to think about what's going on out there, neither he really needs to hear answers to his questions even if she can give them.]

Maybe I'm giving them too much credit, though, assuming that they made sure that you weren't infected.

That would probably be Selphie's doing, hardly theirs.

But maybe they'll find a cure.

When I caught wind of our people getting infected, I ran solo for the most part.

[She sighs lightly. Would one of you change the topic already?]

I really hope they find a cure.

[He catches that sigh. Honestly there's more he would like to ask, but Selphie just returned and from what she has said it's easy to gather that the situation isn't good. His questions can wait until everything is over, for good or bad, asking and wondering about things out there now that they are here won't do much good.

He eats another bite of his pancakes while he tries to think of another topic. Then again they could just eat in silence, he's fine with that, but it doesn't seem like the best option. Finally he goes on a "random" tangent.]

Hyoga is gone. The human, not the wolf, obviously. I know Smoker met him but I don't know if you ever did, Selphie?

[Late news are terribly late. It has easily been over a month since the Cygnus cloth, that Ikki had taken from where Hyoga had camped when he was kidnapped, vanished without trace. Ikki hasn't been counting the days to know exactly how long has it been, but he never bothered to mention it or give an announcement until now. Probably because since Hyoga arrived part of him had been expecting him to leave after a month or so, like that Yato had done.]

[Oh look! Pancakes! Selphie will just concentrate on eating them while somebody thinks of something a little different to discuss then people going home.]

[Ikki just arches an eyebrow at Smoker, not sure what his point was with that comment. It's not as if Ikki cares if Hyoga has left, it's for the better after all, he has work to do back home. Besides, it's hardly something new, any effect the leaving could have had on Ikki has long since vanished.]

Though that reminds me, Kotomi-chan wanted me to teach her to wrestle the other day.

Indeed.

Wait. What? [Slight twitch.] What kind of wrestling? [Not that he's worried, okay a little! But he definitely trusts Ikki to keep Kotomi ridiculously safe, so...]

You mean there's different kinds of wrestling?

[He's not even being sarcastic in the confused look he gives Smoker, last time he checked wrestling was wrestling, there weren't "kinds" of it.]

[Flushes! That wasn't what he meant guys! Wait. Then again, you two are practically innocent little chibis so you probably aren't even thinking that either.]

Of course there's different kinds. Sport, freestyle, show or pro, self defense grappling, sumo, do none of these ring a bell?

[Selphie gives Smoker a sly look.]

And are you going to get even more flustered than you already are if I do?

I never really made a difference between them. I have never had to fight or wrestle following a real set of rules.

[Alo giving Selphie a strange look at that sly look and then at Smoker because... Well, it's true, he's flustered but Ikki can't figure out why.

Hi I'm an adult whose hormones are still hibernating -assuming they are even alive to begin with-.]

[Drums his fingers. Good job Ikki. Now Smoker really is wondering if it's dirty. Except... this is Kotomi-chan and Ikki. They hugged for three hours once. He's not even sure they're capable of dirty thoughts much less actions.]

So what kind of wrestling is it?

[He can't answer Selphie; too busy getting more flustered. And if Selphie figures out why he's flustered, it'll definitely get worse.]

But isn't it still just general wrestling at the day? You better not break Kotomi-chan in half Ikki.

[And Selphie takes another bite of pancake.]

I just taught her what I knew of wrestling, I don't know which "kind" it is and I don't care. I made her promise to never do it herself though.

And I didn't break her in half, the most I did was have her laying down on the mat for ten or more minutes as we talked.

[That doesn't sound wrong at all.]

A blanket has more strength than she does. That's why I told her to not try to do it with anyone, but at least she should be able to talk with her friend without problems and knowing what everything is about.

[Munching the pancakes and looking at Smoker when Selphie points out the blushing. That's a good question, Selphie, Ikki may not get where Smoker's mind is going but he isn't so much of a fool to think he has a fever or something.]

Did something with Grell happen?

Yeah, that's fine, then. So long as she can discuss it. She's gotta keep getting stronger though.

No. Tch. Shut up. And I'm not blushing. [Scowls and tries to figure out how to discreetly kick Selphie under the table. Except stupid draft she probably doesn't need to get hurt more. Grr.]

I'm sure Kotomi-chan is strong in her own way but if you wanted her to have a partner who's more her size...?

[Lies and slander as she shoves a forkfull of pancake into her mouth and her next reply is muffled and distorted as a result.]
