selphie_t | 56th Draw = Something's not right... [Voice/Action]

[Something's just not right in the house when Selphie wakes up. There aren't any arms folding her into a warm embrace that she has to worm out of and the other half of the bed and decidedly cold. Ceodore's the late riser of the two of them unless he's plotting something and even then, he would've tucked the blankets around her. Instead, her back is exposed as she rolls over to discover the mess that their room has become. She's sitting up immediately and sees the broken window and his sword and armor knocked over and scattered across the floor amidst crushed glass.

She's gotten too soft in the place as a remarkably bitter expression plants itself on Selphie's usually smiling face for several minutes. Her hands are instinctively wrapping around a teddy as she hugs it tightly to herself. Why hadn't she woken up? The sounds of the droids breaking and entering into their room usually would've had her awake in an instant as she falls into a small pit of regret. She should've been able to stop this. She could've helped him, protected him. Like she'd made him promise all those months ago.

We protect each other.

And now he's not here and she's feeling a bit lost. Had any of the others heard anything? She can't just assume that it's the Malnosso up to their old tricks but it's really the most logical decision but Selphie's refusing to believe it. The destruction of their bedroom is enough of an indication but she has to make sure as she reaches for the clothes she'd laid out the night before to get ready to face the day. With that done, her nunchaku is gripped with a white-knuckled grip and her journal is in the other. She steps through the mess and doesn't even wince as she feels glass shards biting into the skin of her feet before she's hobbling upstairs to bother her housemates.

Eventually though, she opens the journal and puts out a general query to the people of Luceti. But not before she looks down and sees the damage that she's done to her feet. Nevermind the fact that she could use Nala's magic to heal herself but she's got some lovely glass in her feet and she's not prepared to pull it out.]

Uh, Doctor McCoy? Is there any chance you could make a drop by House 32?

Has anybody seen Ceodore today? He's been a puppy for the past few days but he hasn't left my side and he's always the last one in the house up. So if anybody's seen him, could you let me know? He didn't leave a note or anything and it's not like him to... wait it is...

Ceodore if you're listening, please tell me you're all right?

There's a broom in the closet.

[He nods.]

I think we have a dust pan in there, too. Will you need anything?

No, I'll be fine until you're done.

I'll be quick about it, then.

[Off he goes, picking up the broom and dust pan as he leaves.]

[And with his back turned, Selphie grabs the closest pillow and buries her face in it to cry for a few moments.]

[And he'll make sure not to come back until all those tears have dried, no matter how long it takes.]

[When Cecil comes out eventually, she'll be hugging that pillow tightly and waiting quietly.]

I've found all the shards, I think. You'll not have to worry about more cuts in the middle of the night.

[Indeed, his dust pan seems rather filled.]

[She nods slightly.]

Doctor McCoy's on his way.

Do you think he'll need any supplies?

I'm not entirely sure...

I'll leave the soap in the kitchen, then. He'll probably have something to clean the wounds, but just in case...

Okay.

Will you need anything else?

[She shakes her head. She's just going to wait for McCoy.]

Could you help me into the kitchen and we're gonna need a towel so I don't get anymore blood on the floor.

It'll be no trouble.

[He quickly goes to the bathroom to get a towel, before returning to the living room to pick up Selphie. Piggyback ride again?]

[Piggyback!]

[It takes some effort, but Cecil manages to bring her to the kitchen while holding the towel beneath her feet. No need to drip all over the floor.]

[If there was ever an advantage to being shorter, this would be one of those times as Selphie sits up as straight as she can in the chair and puts on her best brave face.

Does Papa Paladin stay?]

[Of course he does. Someone has to prepare breakfast.]

Would you rather have juice or coffee?

Juice, please.

I think we only have orange left.

[He rummages through the fridge and comes out with orange juice and butter. He quickly pours a glass and serves it to her before giving all of his attention to the toaster.]

That's okay. I like orange juice.

I've always prefered grape juice, but that might come from childhood days where I kept hoping it'd spontaneously ferment.
