49th Draw [Voice/Action/Open to newbies and nags alike!]

[Backdated to earlier in the day!

It's the first since Selphie had been returned to the village that she dares to venture outside of the house. Of course, she's going out pretty well bundled up but she's in her better safe than sorry mode. Frankly though, if she stays in the house for one minute longer, she may have to start scaling the walls or jumping from the roof of the house again. Housemates of course, might be more than a bit alarmed if Selphie starts jumping off said roof so she decides not to do so. It was fun mind you but yeah... housemates freaking out and possibly landing on Frey again didn't sound like a good idea.

At first, she sits on the porch of the house and just breathes in the fresh air. It's mildly surprising at first but Selphie gets used to the cold air after a few moments. She contemplates going back inside for a few moments before tugging her scarf up higher to cover her nose and cheeks. Really, she looks like a bundled up mass of yellow and pink.

She's just so thrilled to be outside after spending most of the week inside. She takes it slowly at first with her journal in tow and she'll just wander through the village like she did when she first arrived. She missed so many of the New Feathers this time around so she'll wonder if she'll run into any of them this time around. Has she met you? She'd love to meet you and it's not like she's hard to miss. She'll stop by her usual haunts once she arrives in the plaza though.

First stop, she wants a new book or two to read so she'll go check out what's available before wandering about in a lazy pattern. She stops eventually to get something warm to drink before she starts to head back toward the house once again. Maybe she should stop at the clinic and get a check-up just in case the Malnosso have done something to her that she doesn't know about? She doesn't know what they did to her this time but after sleeping off drugs for almost three days, she'd be happier with it out-of-sight, out-of-mind.

She sits down on the fountain's ledge today and decides to put out a general query to the populace of Luceti. One might notice that her voice is a bit muffled though. Blame the scarf, it's cold out!]

Have you got airships where you come from? If so, tell me something about them! Anything at all will do.

They look like helicopters but instead of pushing air down, they use the rotor blades to create lift, the way an airplane does. So they're smaller and not as strong, but in some ways there's a lot more you can do with them.

Amelia Earheart set the women's altitude record in one.

They're big enough for just one person yes? I think we have something like that back home.

Really? That's amazing! Who is that anyway?

[personal profile] doubleppk 2011-01-22 05:26 am (UTC)(link)
Yup! Sometimes two or three.

She set all sorts of flight records, and even more flight records as the first woman to do them. She got lost trying to fly around the world in one trip though.

Maybe it's different then. What's it look like?
doubleppk: (army machine gun)

ooc: not that this will make much sense >>

An autogyro? Well, there's a bunch of types, depending on the maker.

Cagliostro had this real beauty of one that was red and... well it had a cockpit and then the wings were sort of balanced on either end with... Oh fuck it. [Quickly draws a sketch of this but only of the shape.] That one only fit one or two people but the bigger bitch was just in balancing on the outside of it, carrying dead weight, dealing with the gunshots and still landing it near Jigen. Not that he said "thank you." See if I rescue Lupin next time.

[She will... she always does.]

Not to Selphie, nope! :B

[identity profile] boomchucka.livejournal.com 2011-01-23 03:28 pm (UTC)(link)
That's definitely not what I'm thinking of but maybe if the wings were wider it'd be more balanced.
doubleppk: (I'm listening?)

Ah well, Fujiko rambles.

[personal profile] doubleppk 2011-01-23 03:30 pm (UTC)(link)
But then it wouldn't fold up to pack away easily!

And Selphie suggests ideas.

[identity profile] boomchucka.livejournal.com 2011-01-23 03:32 pm (UTC)(link)
If you added extra hinges onto the wings it could still fold up as easily.
doubleppk: (flying)

Fujiko likes this. Now if they could just make one in Luceti...

[personal profile] doubleppk 2011-01-23 03:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh hey! That'd be awesome! Would it still be stable enough to fly though?

I can imagine Selphie now... xD

[identity profile] boomchucka.livejournal.com 2011-01-23 03:43 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not too sure. We'd have to try it out first.
doubleppk: (bliss)

Fujiko might even share. BE AMAZED BY THIS GENEROSITY XD

[personal profile] doubleppk 2011-01-23 04:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh my god! We should try it here! Do you think Sokka could do it? He seems to think he's pretty tech savvy.

I AM SHOCKED AND AMAZED. SIMPLY FLOORED.

[identity profile] boomchucka.livejournal.com 2011-01-23 04:06 pm (UTC)(link)
We should! I betcha we could find all kinds of help with something like it! And the Smithy people are looking for something to do anyway so this would keep them entertained as well!
doubleppk: (flirt)

\o/

[personal profile] doubleppk 2011-01-23 04:07 pm (UTC)(link)
We should seriously ask them! It'd be like the best use of a smithy EVER!

So you have autogyros in your world too?

Hahahaha, awesome. xD

[identity profile] boomchucka.livejournal.com 2011-01-23 05:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Now that I've seen a picture of what one looks like... we don't.
doubleppk: (Mm)

XD I love emoticons too much. They're my secret shame~

[personal profile] doubleppk 2011-01-23 05:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah really? That's a shame. What do you have?

Nothing wrong with emoticon abuse. XD

[identity profile] boomchucka.livejournal.com 2011-01-24 12:20 am (UTC)(link)
We have airships, trains and ships. Cars too.

[identity profile] boomchucka.livejournal.com 2011-01-25 03:06 pm (UTC)(link)
I haven't seen them too often but yes, we've got those too.
doubleppk: (Mm)

[personal profile] doubleppk 2011-01-26 03:50 am (UTC)(link)
Sounds a bit like home, then.
